"Catonsville Nine" Burn Draft Files

Catonsville, Maryland

Nine Catholic peace activists, in a Vietnam war protest, took draft files from the Catonsville draft board office and burned them with napalm. They were tried and convicted on three federal counts in October 1968. The nine were brothers Philip and Fr. Daniel Berrigan; Br. David Darst; John Hogan; Tom Lewis; Marjorie Bradford Melville; Thomas Melville; George Mische; and Mary Moylan.
