Cecil de Mille's grand production of the life of Christ inaugurated the common Hollywood practice of employing a Catholic priest as technical adviser. Fr. Daniel Lord, SJ, offered Mass daily on the set, and his guidance provided insurance against offending the large and growing Catholic motion picture audience.
