Sister Blandina Segale, SC (1850–1941)

Missionary

Born in Italy, she emigrated to Cincinnati with her family at age four. Having joined the Sisters of Charity there, she was sent to serve as a missionary in the American West, arriving in Colorado in 1872. She later founded a school and hospital in Santa Fe. Her letters about life in the West were published to popular acclaim in 1932.
