Joel Chandler Harris (1848–1908)

Harris, who was born and died in Georgia, was a journalist at the Atlanta Constitution. He is better known for his African-American folk tales featuring the character Uncle Remus. Long sympathetic to the Church by the example of his Catholic wife, Harris was finally baptized a few weeks before his death.
