Ragineau joined the Huron mission in Quebec and northern New York with fellow French Jesuits Isaac Jogues and John de Brebeuf. He was possibly the first European to record viewing Niagara Falls. Unlike many of his brother Jesuits, he escaped martyrdom and returned to France later in life.
