Stephen Moylan (1734–1811)

Irish-born, Moylan was a successful merchant in Philadelphia. An ardent supporter of independence, he volunteered for Washington's army at the beginning of the Revolutionary War and became Commissary General of the Continental Army. He later raised a regiment of Pennsylvania soldiers and led them as colonel. After the war he returned to his business.
