Tadeusz Kosciuszko (1746–1817)
Revolutionary hero
A captain in the Polish army, Kosciuszko volunteered for Washington's army during the Revolution. He rose to brigadier general and was honored by the new Congress. He visited the US again, to accolades, in 1797.
