Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia

Established 1913

The Archeparchy has its origins in the Ordinariate created for Byzantine Catholics in the United States in 1913, with Stephen Soter Ortynsky as its first bishop. In 1924, other Ruthenians were separated from Ukrainians when the Eparchy of Pittsburgh was formed. Philadelphia was made a Ukrainian Archeparchy in 1958.
