Basilica of St. Adalbert

Buffalo, New York

Dedicated, 1891

The current double-towered brick structure was built to replace the Polish parish's first church, which burned down just three years after it opened. It obtained major basilica affiliation with St. Peter's in Rome in 1907. (The first American church to be formally designated a minor basilica by papal decree was St. Mary in Minneapolis.)
