Cathedral Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe (architect of the Capitol in Washington, D.C.) and overseen by Bishop John Carroll, the church was the United States' first cathedral. It was made a basilica in 1937.
