The Old Mission, Coeur d'Alene

Founded 1843
Father Pierre de Smet responded to calls for missionaries from the Coeur d'Alene tribe by sending fellow Jesuit Fathers Point and Ravalli. Their successor, Fr. Cataldo, lent his name to the town that sprang up near the mission after lead was discovered there.
