Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel

Founded 1799
Father Demetrius Gallitzin founded the parish of St. Michael, whose first two churches were built during his lifetime. The fourth church is the present structure. It was built in 1900 with funding from Loretto native and US Steel Corporation president, Charles Schwab.
