National Shrine of Our Lady of the Martyrs

Site of the martyrdom of the North American Martyrs and birthplace of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha

Founded 1884

After much search and debate, historian John Gilmary Shea and archaeologist John S. Clark established this as the site where Father Isaac Jogues, SJ, René Goupil, and John La Lande were killed by their Mohawk captors.
